2013 Syrah / Grenache, Sonoma County

production: 7 barrels made

$38per bottle

This rowdy, spicy red truly captures wildness in a bottle. Pax’s wine reflects the ruggedness of his vineyards which are found on mountainsides or in unexpected soils facing exposure to harsh elements. Design team, Lab Partners, took inspiration from Pax’s natural winemaking process along with the wine itself—lively, floral notes with concentration and depth—to create their wild and whimsical label. About the Wine
“This is a really fun, celebratory wine that’s maybe even a little bit rowdy. It has a lot of concentration, a lot of depth, and a lot of life. It’s going to play well with open-flame grilled meats and heartier, richer vegetables.”
Pax Mahle, Winemaker

About the Design
“When people see this label for Barrel + Ink, I hope it evokes a sense of mysticism and mystery in nature. Maybe they will try to make up a little bit of the story in their minds about the wolf.”
