Master Of Mountains 1913

2013 Chardonnay, Oak Knoll, Napa Valley

production: 8 barrels made

$38per bottle

Steve is a master of walking the razor’s edge between under-ripe and over-ripe and then finding the perfect balance between the two. He's a skater-turned farmer-turned winemaking visionary--and his vision is for California wines with poise, bright acidity, and a sense of place that's all too easily lost in the warm days and nights of The Golden State. The angular, acute label design by the singularly talented digital design pioneer, Joshua Davis, perfectly matches the focus and crispness of the wine. Scroll down to see even more details.

About the Wine
100% old-vine Chardonnay, Master of Mountains 1913 is an old-school, age-worthy food wine. It's a lip-smacking wine with verve and precision that cleans the palate, excites the senses, and is a respectful nod to the history of Old World Chardonnay.
Steve Matthiasson, Winemaker

About the Design
The Design uses a system called, “Delaunay triangulation” named after Mathematician Boris Delaunay, who was awarded the title 'Master of Mountains' for his pursuits in mountain climbing. The ideas of using mathematics paired with nature and of wine being mankind's symphonic refinement of nature, for me, was a harmonic symbiosis of aesthetics.
Joshua Davis, Digital Designer
